Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a charge to have an initial consultation with an attorney?
No, we are happy to speak with you either in person or on the telephone to discuss your case and review your legal situation and options at no cost to you.
How does your office charge for attorney fees?
Bird, Jacobsen & Stevens, P.C., collects attorney fees either on an hourly basis or through a contingent fee agreement. The majority of our cases use a contingent fee agreement. With a contingent fee agreement a client does not pay any attorney fees if a successful outcome is not obtained. The specifics of both hourly fee agreements and contingent fee agreements vary by the type of case involved. During your initial consultation the attorney will go over the specific fee agreement relevant to your case.
Am I responsible for expenses related to my case?
In most cases clients are responsible for paying for the expenses related to their case. During your initial consultation the attorney will go over what types of expenses may be incurred during your case.
